intec is delighted to announce that it has participated in and advised the Renewable Energy Authority of Libya (REAoL) and other Libyan stakeholders in a workshop titled "De-risking foreign investments for Renewable Energy in Libya", held on Wednesday 6th March 2024. The workshop was organised by GIZ Libya with the attendance of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The workshop comes under the project 'Support for Renewable Energies in Libya (SREL)'. SREL is a joint technical support project, implemented by the Prime Minister's Office of Libya and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. The German contribution of the project is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

The workshop also covered the presentation of the ambitious Libyan National Strategy for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (NSREEE) for 2023-2035, which commits the Libyan government to 20% of renewables by 2035. The objective of such a workshop was to have a collective discussion about how to provide an investment guarantee for renewable energy projects in the current unstable political situation of Libya. Several ideas and lessons learned were discussed with the audience, focusing on the way forward and addressing several solutions.
